Project + Design Lead
Redesigning a college and career prep program for a changing world.
Identifying needs
As philanthropy trend changed, FANS Program serving first-generation students was affected by the dwindling funds to operate. This 30-year old program is due for a strategy shift.
Brainstorm
Our insights indicate different concerns stemming from different group of users. The problem themes were: program content, how it runs (administrative), and funding.

Test // Pilot
The new program and handbook is being tested during the 2017-2018 school year.
Research
I interviewed everyone relating to the program to identify the needs of each group and to understand areas of improvement in the eyes of each person.
Students - current and past participants of the program
Parents - experience the program from their student's perspective
FANS Advocates - facilitators of the program, have no say in the decision impacting FANS
Leadership team - where decisions impacting all programs are made, such as development team, evaluator, CEO, administrator
Youth Program Director and Managers - where decisions regarding the FANS program are made
Prototype
An opportunity area I identified was around support and clear process for FANS Advocates who implement the program. Our Youth Director, Advocates, and I created a new handbook for the Advocates to include budget information and lesson planning toolkit.
